New Food Delivery Service to Focus on Locally Owned Establishments

 

CINCINNATI — A new food delivery service, CincyEats, is coming to the Cincinnati region. The website and app plan to provide local establishments a new service option for delivery and takeout in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which forced the restaurant industry across the country into closures for health and safety reasons.

 

Local resident and restaurateur John Smith came up with the idea when his restaurant was forced to use mainstream food delivery apps in order to stay afloat. Those apps provide the convenience of ordering takeout and delivery from a personal device, but charge exorbitant fees to both the restaurant and the customer. “I wanted another option. Something that didn’t charge us an arm and a leg, but still made it easy for the customers and let us continue to work.” The idea has gained traction after Smith reached out to other restaurant owners. So far he’s got five other restaurant owners in on the CincyEats idea.

 

CincyEats is a new kind of delivery service designed specifically with local restaurants in mind. The platform is meant to provide relief to restaurants during the pandemic crisis, and will rehire laid-off and furloughed restaurant staff members as delivery personnel. CincyEats intends to be a community-based platform, with input from restaurant owners and workers across the whole city.
